About this Essex Girl

My name is Juliet. In December 2016 I quit my (pretty awesome) job at a youth charity to take a break. I’m trying to take life a bit slower for a while. I’m trying to spend my time walking outdoors, cooking in the kitchen, sticking my head in a book, being a bit more creative, doing plenty of charity work and hanging out with family, friends, and my dogs. Beyond that, well let’s just see where the year takes us…

I am an Essex Girl. My family are in Essex, I grew up here and have moved back here. I’ve spent a lot of time in London, Kent and Yorkshire, and seen enough of Great Britain to love it all, but I’ve always been on a bungee cord back home to Essex. I love this county – for its history, its pride, its openness, its sass and its ability to just get on and do things. I’m not wild about the Essex Girl stereotype, hence the title “An Essex Girl Walks” since it’s usually the start of a bad joke…

This blog exists mainly to journal my walks and provide a useful resource for other walkers, particularly in and around Essex. However there are plenty of interesting things to do in the county so I also intend to share some of these adventures.
